BASF Cotton – Andy Mahr

Andy Mahr and I headed out to Uvalde TX to feature a few cotton farms to capture images of the high tech harvesting machines and their farmers for BASF seeds. We flew drones and had all the amenities we could want outside on a beautiful farm (via Austin Base Camp – Dewey!). There wasn’t a whole lot of need for props, so Andy and I supplied what few things we wanted, aside the perfect things that the farmers already had on hand. We did get aggressively yelled at by one of the farmer’s neighbors, letting us know that there was no covid out in the country and we shouldn’t wear masks (some of the crew was at high risk). Behold, rural Texas. Oh and the “best” hotel nearby was truly the scuzziest place I’ve slept in a long time. Eww!

BTW, thankfully this was 2 years before the horrific school shooting in Uvalde. I don’t know if I would have said yes to the project
