On this segment of the Makers Mark 46 campaign, Jimmy Williams and our team visited Charleston SC for the fabulous bar scene inside the Spectator Hotel. This sleek hotel in Charleston’s historic downtown channels 1920s glam with accents like hand painted wallpaper, a gilded elevator, and mirrored ceilings. The Spectator was named No. 1 Hotel in the U.S. by Travel+Leisure, making it the perfect place to capture another attitude of Makers 46. The bar manager Alex was an absolute delight and made us any cocktail we needed for the photos, and otherwise. We shot several scenarios, but the most interesting and surprising (to me) was when the creative team asked “what if we put a couple of people there at the bar?” Having no hired models ahead of time, I was asked to be one of these “bar patrons” in the shot. My career as a photo “Extra” continues; I’ll be sharing a modeling portfolio soon. In the meantime, you can see me in the pages of National Geographic May 2017 issue.
